Continued from Page Two
The final page of truncheons consists of some of Alan's best and that is of Cambridge, already shown refs:14,15,145, following are 178,179,180,185,186,187,188.
Summarising these three pages I find such a wide variation, I particularly like the vivid colours on tipstaff ref:150 then surprising to many, I do like the most uninteresting looking truncheon ref:149 simply because of its well balance feel and superb slender shape, almost female! The total opposite and although quite special and rare item is ref:147 a truncheon from Stamford, the hold is horrible, the weight of it tires the wrist after a short while. Ref:121 St Georges in the East oozes history, I still have much to research on this along with ref:131 another tipstaff taking a lot of time spent in just researching its coat of arms. Then there are the uncertainties like ref:152 and its horrible light blue gloss paint. The fakes, the stainless steel tipstaff ref:159 and ref:146 Folkingham. Then of course the tiny trunch ref:157. And finally I think I'll go along with Dads personal likes towards Cambridge because of the very classiness of them Refs: 14,15.
